Gavin Lu
Lead Pastor
Pastor Gavin leads New Life Church with a heart for God and a love for life’s simple joys. Though he sees the world through one eye, his vision for ministry and connection is crystal clear.
He’s happiest singing praise songs, worshiping with others, and savoring delicious food—especially the kind that’s both tasty and budget-friendly (he might have a soft spot for bee hoon curry).
A lifelong learner, he enjoys diving into theology, exploring personal growth, and escaping into thrillers, mysteries, and fantasy novels. When he’s not reading, he’s out exploring new places with his amazing wife or close friends, cherishing every adventure.
A proud graduate of Singapore Bible College (M.Div, 2024), he’s all about keeping things simple, loving deeply, and serving faithfully."
Lim Geok Huat
Lay Pastor
Pastor Lim came to Christ in his early twenties and answered God’s call to full-time ministry in 1992. After graduating from Trinity Theological College in 1996, he served as a Pastor at New Life Church for 12 years. In 2008, he stepped down from full-time ministry to become a professional counselor at Lakeside Family Services.
During his tenure, Pastor Lim played a key role in shaping the church’s mission. He pioneered the youth ministry, led mission teams to India and helped guide New Life Church’s response to God’s call to be a “Church in the Community.” This vision led to the establishment of Life Edu Centre (now Life Edu Services), a ministry dedicated to supporting disadvantaged families and individuals in Macpherson.
Though no longer in full-time ministry, Pastor Lim continues to serve as a Lay Pastor and Church Council Member. Passionate about mentoring the next generation, he is committed to raising new leaders to carry on God’s work in and through the church (Isaiah 43:19).
Our History
Humble Origins
New Life Church was founded in 1965 by Rev Lee Seang Lip and his wife, Associate Pastor Mrs Lee, to minister to the Chinese-speaking congregation. Originally part of Calvary Assembly of God, the church first gathered at Mountbatten Road, conducting worship services, Sunday School, and community outreach. However, due to government land acquisition, the church had to relocate multiple times, holding services at venues such as Peninsula Hotel, Cockpit Hotel, Broadrick Road, Bible House, and Circuit Road.
In 1984, God provided a permanent space at Association Building, Geylang, where the church was officially incorporated as New Life Church Ltd. Under Rev. Lee’s leadership, the church grew from a small group of 20 members to nearly 100, fueled by revival meetings and outreach to youths in the Macpherson community. Many of these youths remain actively involved in the church today.
Diligent Stewardship
Following Rev. Lee’s stroke in 1990, leadership transitioned to Pastor Timothy Poon and Pastor Lim Geok Huat, supported by Mrs. Lee and the Elders. Together, they faithfully shepherded the church, strengthening its ministries and growing its outreach efforts. Pastor Lim also pioneered the Youth Ministry and led teams for mission trips to India, fostering a heart for missions within the church.
In 2006, New Life Church responded to God’s call to serve the Macpherson community, renting a shop unit in Circuit Road that was later purchased in 2010. This initiative laid the foundation for Life Edu Services Ltd, which provides educational and social support to underprivileged families. At the same time, the church continued its overseas missions to India and Indonesia, partnering with Shalom Foundation and 5Miles to extend God’s love beyond Singapore.
The Road Ahead
In 2020, New Life Church moved to its current premises at TSL 101, Eunos, stepping into a new season of ministry. This relocation opened doors for deeper engagement with the Eunos community, strengthening partnerships with various organizations to serve those in need. The church remains committed to its mission of faithful service, discipleship, and outreach, sharing God’s love both locally and internationally.
As the church embraces this new chapter, Pastor Gavin Lu was appointed Lead Pastor in 2025, carrying forward the vision and mission of New Life Church. With a heart for God and a passion for people, he leads the church in building a Christ-centered community, dedicated to growing in faith and impacting lives through God’s love.
